  • Details
Four garland-shaped ribs wind around the vase from the four corners of the square-shaped base. The glass is ruby red throughout due to the addition of metal oxide. The partially applied gilding is decorated with the finest, detailed enamel painting. The sections that are not fully gilded are decorated with fine floral motifs in gold. The base of the vase has been sanded and polished several times.
The Ludwig Moser glass finishing company was founded in Karlovy Vary in 1857 by Ludwig Moser, a glass cutter by trade and part of the Bohemian glass tradition. The Art Nouveau influence in his earlier glassware and the stylistic influence of New Objectivity and Art Deco are certainly also linked to Ludwig Moser's close relationship with the Wiener Werkstätte. In Austria, the Wiener Werkstätte had a similar influence on the development of design and was characterised by the same ideas as the Werkbund or the Bauhaus in Weimar in Germany at the same time.
Dimensions: Height 30 cm, width 8 cm
Condition: The vase is in very good condition considering its age. No chipping on the base or upper rim. Apart from the upper rim (heavy abrasion), the gilding is still very good. See also the photos for the condition.
